What an exciting time we've had in Tyler! Last Thursday, we arrived in Tyler at the home of Mark and Terri Campbell. Mark is a contractor, and gave Joshua work while we are in town. We shared about the mission at Calvary Chapel of Tyler on Sunday morning, December 9, and had good fellowship with Pastor Tim Burns, his wife Marilyn, and several other brothers and sisters in the congregation. On Friday the 7th, Joshua and I went to Barnes and Noble to look for Spanish educational materials, and to have some "date-time," a tradition we try to uphold at least once a week. While searching for books and media, and discussing which items fit our needs, we were surprised with a voice behind us. It was an elementary bilingual teacher who overheard our conversation, and couldn't help but giving us some good pointers. As we began a conversation with her about our ministry in Mexico, we learned that her name is Cathy, and that she is originally from Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. She married a Peruvian man who's brother pastors a Spanish Baptist church in Tyler, and so we visited the church. What a blessing! It has been some time since we have been in Spanish worship. We visited a church often in Evansville that was Spanish-speaking, and as our departure neared, our fellowship with that congregation had dwindled as responsibilities abounded. What a blessing to sit under the beautiful music, and the powerful message from Pastor Jaime Lengua about giving offerings cheerfully from our hearts, and allowing those offerings to be symbolic of the joy we have within us over God's endless grace.
While in Tyler, our truck broke down, but after minor repairs, it is working again, and Calvary Chapel of Tyler paid for the repairs - praise the Lord! We also have been blessed by Mark Campbell with several Spanish books and tracks. He shared with us the name of an amazing ministry called world missionary press (www.worldmissionarypress.org). This ministry supplied us with 15 boxes of new testament Spanish Bibles, 5,000 spanish tracks, and over 1,200 individual Bible studies on Matthew and Revelation. Praise GodWe are heading to San Angelo, Texas, on Tuesday, December 11. Please pray that we have safe travels.
