Hello, Friends,
We are Joshua and Lacynda Webb, Missionaries in the Sonora Desert of Mexico. Some months back, several congregations served us with shelter to sleep in as we traveled through the U.S. to Mexico as missionaries. Now that our initial time is coming to completion, we are traveling back home for some rest, a family wedding, and financial preparations for our return in October. As we travel home, we seek the assistance of the Lord’s Body once more.
While in Mexico, we used our available funds to jumpstart several needed construction projects for brothers in Christ, and wisely spent as the Lord gave us opportunity to do so. You may read about those projects HERE. There was a hope of work in Tucson in March, but, unfortunately, time has not permitted the employer to hire anyone just yet. I am looking for opportunities to work as we make the 2,000-mile journey back to Indiana. We realize that as the winter winds die away and springtime flourishes, home repairs become obvious and require attention, and I would like to help in any repairs that need completion. I am a handy man, and have been self-employed many years repairing, building, installing, and landscaping, and have many good references in our home state of Indiana, of whom my wife can send names and phone numbers upon request.
Please speak with your congregation about work that they could possibly hire me for a week or so, or just for a few days. No job is too small, and we love getting to know the brothers and sisters across the country, so many jobs are great! We believe that the Lord has called us to Mexico, as ambassadors for His name, and while we are not opposed to receiving donations from people or groups, we prefer to labor for our provisions. Paul led the life of a tentmaker while carrying out the mission Christ gave him, and we emulate his example.
The following lists projects that I know well and have had residential and commercial experience:
Vinyl Laying Carpet Laying Interior Painting
Door Installation Plaster Repair Beginner Plumbing
Drywall Finishing Drywall Hanging Sub floor installation
Sub floor replacement
{In trailers mostly but general application is the same}
Stairs Construction
{Stringers and treads, cutting angles from scratch – Exterior to second floor}
Roof Tarring Basic Carpentry Basic Concrete Pouring
Brick Laying Landscaping Lawn Care
In exchange for work, we ask that a family from your congregation provide food and shelter for the time it will take to complete the job. We do not wish to be a financial burden on anyone with hotel costs or extra expenses; we ask specifically that the family has the gift of hospitality and is willing to show us that hospitality for at least one week as we complete work. As for payment, Joshua can discuss a detailed estimate with those who are interested in his services, before arrival, via Internet and phone. We will be traveling through the month of April, and are hoping to have at least a week’s worth of work in each state, if not more.
A note to all pastors and youth leaders:
My wife and I have a deep passion for missions as a lifestyle. We each spent six to seven years as youth traveling as missionaries to other states and countries. We have spent the last three years working in our Indiana neighborhood as missionaries, and have led classes and workshops in the subject of lifestyle missions. The Lord has placed on our hearts a strong desire to share the lessons we have learned with others as an avenue to exhort and bless our Brothers and Sisters. We are seeking speaking engagements in churches regarding the subject of “Missions at Home: A Lifestyle, Not Just a Destination.” Our vision for these presentations is that others can find their own way to serve the Lord wherever God has placed them. If you are interested, please contact us via email and we can tell you more about the presentation and schedule a date. We have different presentations geared for adults, youth, and children’s ministries. We offer all presentations as a free ministry to you or your congregation. All we ask is shelter in the home of one of your members for the time we are with you. If the body desires to offer financial help, we will appreciate donations for fuel.
We look forward to reading your response upon receipt of this email.
Sincerely,
Joshua & Lacynda Webb
