The fellowship at the Calvary Chapel of Las Cruces has been incredibly refreshing. There are so many personalities in this church, and they all make up the body of Christ. The time with the people has been incredibly rejuvenating.
I (Lacy) have especially enjoyed the last week, when I was able to participate in the Vacation Bible School. In my opinion, Vacation Bible School was always the most fun part of summer as a child, and now that I am an adult, I enjoy it even more. Usually I am a director, teacher, or coordinator, but since I was volunteering in a church that I was not my own, I had a great opportunity to be a floater. It was such a sweet time of fellowship with the other volunteers and visiting parents!
From the great conversations that I had with the homeschooling parents, to the insightful information I gained from the homebirthing/homeopathic mom of 7 children, to the older women of the kitchen who were soaking up every moment with the young women of the church and the love of the children, to the new and fresh teachers and leaders who were learning every day who to relate to those little participants in VBS, the time last week was absolutely thrilling and fulfilling!
We used the "Answers in Genesis" curriculum, called "Amazon Expedition: the Ultimate Trek Through Time!" The children learned God's plan for the history and future of this world, but studying the "7 C's of History": Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, Cross, and the Consummation of his plan.
Not only did the children glean a lot out of this creation-based curriculum about God's Purpose, but many adults who were new to VBS and church voluntary service were faced with several hard questions which they had to search for answers in the Bible: questions, such as, "Did God truly create the world in just 6 days?" and "Is it true that dinosaurs were created at the same time humans were created?" All teh participants, including myself, were greatly blessed by the VBS.
As Joshua continues another workweek here in Las Cruces, I look forward to much more interesting visits and insightful encounters, and the wonderfully, fulfilling fellowship from the Body of Christ.

We are Josh and Lacy Webb. We married in 2003 as missionaries, and continue now together in our calling as a family to spread the love of Christ wherever he allows us to be. Believers are the ministry, the servants, of our Lord and Savior. the basis of His Ministry. We make up a web of servants, which stretches across the world, touching lives in many areas but connecting them all through us to our Lord and Savior, the Risen Messiah, Jesus the Christ.
