On Friday the 7th, Joshua and I went to Barnes and Noble to look for Spanish educational materials, and to have some "date-time," a tradition we try to uphold at least once a week. While searching for books and media, and discussing which items fit our needs, we were surprised with a voice behind us. It was an elementary bilingual teacher who overheard our conversation, and couldn't help but giving us some good pointers. As we began a conversation with her about our ministry in Mexico, we learned that her name is Cathy, and that she is originally from Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. She married a Peruvian man who's brother pastors a Spanish Baptist church in Tyler, and so we visited the church. What a blessing! It has been some time since we have been in Spanish worship. We visited a church often in Evansville that was Spanish-speaking, and as our departure neared, our fellowship with that congregation had dwindled as responsibilities abounded. What a blessing to sit under the beautiful music, and the powerful message from Pastor Jaime Lengua about giving offerings cheerfully from our hearts, and allowing those offerings to be symbolic of the joy we have within us over God's endless grace.
We are heading to San Angelo, Texas, on Tuesday, December 11. Please pray that we have safe travels.
