Joshua has begun preaching regularly in the meetings. We now have meetings in three places on three different nights: Sundays in the village of Toltecas at the home of Uriel and Pati Amaya; Wednesday nights in the village of 21 de Marzo at the home of Carmen Alvarado; and on Friday nights in the village of Guadalupe Victoria at our own home.
For the last two weeks, Greg was renewing his visas at the border, and once he returned, became very ill with flu-like symptoms, therefore leaving the preaching on Sundays and Wednesdays to Joshua and Uriel Amaya. Uriel is very intelligent, as well as blessed with a gift of teaching; however, he is also very shy, and therefore, doesn’t mind reading the word in church, but does have timidity about sharing his thoughts and teachings. Therefore, as Joshua has been teaching in broken Spanish and English, Lacy has been interpreting. The challenge has only been met through power, wisdom, and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Friday nights have become more of a youth meeting in Guadalupe Victoria, as most of the children and teenagers remember us from last year. For over a month now, many of them have asked when we will be having the meetings again. Joshua was a bit timid to start the teachings since his Spanish is improving day by day, but after a few times of having Lacy translate, he learned a groove and is now sharing fluidly. The teens and adults who come to the meetings enjoy the lessons, which are taught verse-by-verse, and the children love the time afterwards when we sing songs together around the piano.
On the 21st of February, Greg will be returning to the states for work, and Joshua will be preaching regularly at the Wednesday and Sunday meetings. Please be in prayer for us both, as the preparation of three distinct teachings has stretched Joshua, and the challenge of interpreting those teachings into Spanish has been equally difficult for Lacynda. Praise God for the power we have in the name of Jesus Christ, in whom all things are possible, and in whom we find the strength to do all things.
