Mission Update 12.26.2006

As the end of the year approaches, the beginning of our journey nears. We are spending the week with Lacy’s paternal grandparents in Tennessee, visiting grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and second cousins, for the holidays.

Our Christmas with our immediately families at home last week was simple and sweet, with dinners and gifts. Lacy’s mom helped us find a nice laptop with a good price over the Internet so that we may have internet access while in Mexico to keep in touch with our friends and families in the states. Joshua’s mom gave us money to “get something nice” for ourselves; this funded a keyboard for Lacy and a Djembe for Josh. We’re very excited; we’ve never owned our own instruments before! It’s such a blessing to know that the gifts that we have can now be used to minister to our brothers and sisters in Mexico. Joshua has been gifted with an understanding of rhythm and a desire for sharing music through the art of drumming; Lacy loves to sing and play to her music on the piano and share her talent to bless others with the songs that God has placed in her heart. This was a wonderful gift, and we’re so very thankful that the Lord gave us the opportunity to experience this joy.

Our journey here to Tennessee was a safe one. Lacy has been battling an upper-respiratory infection, so Josh drove most of the way. We learned, in planning this very long trip to Mexico, that time isn’t always as precious as gas. By cutting down our speed on our way down to Tennessee, we may have added 2 extra hours to our trip, but we saved over $30 worth of fuel [based on the fuel usage for using the exact same route for the last three years)! We’re blessed to discover this small yet significant savings; it will be beneficial to us as we fuel up each day for the six-day journey to Sonora, Mexico.

The van is crammed full. There is not one ounce of space left! We were so amazed and humbled at the amount of people who responded to Jill Owen’s call for donations. People have given baby, toddler, child, teen, and adult clothing; shoes; and jackets. The donations filled ½ of the van, and our personal items barely fit into the back! It is such a lovely thought to know that we are going with fullness but leaving empty, because so many people will use these generous donations.

We will leave Tennessee on Friday, December 29, and head for Louisiana as our first stop. It will be an 11-12 hour drive. Please pray that Lacy may recover from this illness before the long drive ahead. Also, We have been receiving reports from our brothers and sisters in Mexico that they are in a battle of spiritual warfare. Because we are not able to keep constant contact with them, we are not sure of the circumstances. Please pray for their safety and faith, and for their conscious efforts to apply the armor of God each day: For the their minds, that they would be covered in the knowledge of their salvation; for their hearts, that they would be protected by living and thinking in righteousness; for their protection, that the faith they have been given would increase and grow stronger; for their courage, that the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, would embed itself into their minds and onto their tongues as the weapon that defends them against the darts of the evil one.

For those who have asked how we will continue receiving financial support while in Mexico:

TREK (Training and Reaching through Evangelism and Koinonia) MISSIONS is still handling all of our finances. You may send any donation to them; deposits are made weekly. If you wish to support us, please send checks or money orders, made payable only to T.R.E.K. MISSIONS, to this address:

TREK MISSIONS
c/o Joshua Webb
727 Oleander Lane

For legal purposes, do not put Joshua or Lacynda (Josh or Lacy)’s names anywhere on the check, including the payable to or memo line. We will not have access to sign checks or deposit this money ourselves, so it is very important that donations be made to TREK and then only addressed to us as a c/o line on the envelope, as shown in the address above.

Blessings in the name of our Risen Messiah, Jesus the Christ,

We are Josh and Lacy Webb. We married in 2003 as missionaries, and continue now together in our calling as a family to spread the love of Christ wherever he allows us to be. Believers are the ministry, the servants, of our Lord and Savior. the basis of His Ministry. We make up a web of servants, which stretches across the world, touching lives in many areas but connecting them all through us to our Lord and Savior, the Risen Messiah, Jesus the Christ.
